아말라식( 阿末羅識) 또는 암마라식 (庵摩羅識)라고도 음역하며, 무구 (無垢), 백정 (白淨), 청정( 淸淨)이리고 번역. 팔식( 八識) 다음으로 구식 (九識)을 말하며, 청정무구 (淸淨無垢)한 부처님의 경지를 말함. 그러나 구유식학파 (舊唯識學派)와는 달리, 신유식학파( 新唯識學派)에서는 이것이 아뢰야식의 청정한 일면에 지나지 않는다고 하여 팔식 (八識)만을 세움)

Amala: The pristine and undefiled consciousness, another name for the ninth consciousness. This is the doctrine claimed by the Old Mind-only School. It also means supreme enlightenment and Buddhahood, or the Buddha-consciousness, which is another name for Dharmakaya. However, the New Mind-only School discusses only the eighth consciousness, claiming that the ninth consciousness is only a part of immaculateness of the eighth consciousness.
