선가 (禪家)에서 깨침에 관해 이야기할 때 즐겨 쓰는 말. 입으로 분 머리카락이 칼날에 닫기만 해도 잘린다는 날카로운 칼. 그러나 이것은 온갖 번뇌를 단칼에 날려버릴 수 있는 마음 또는 지혜에 비유하기도 함
