소승 (小乘)의 연기론으로 사종연기 (四種緣起)의 하나. 일체의 현상은 모두 우리들의 업에 의하여 나타난다는 구사론 (俱舍論)의 세계관과 인생관. 곧 감업고 (感業苦)의 삼도 (三道)가 전전 (展轉)하여 인과가 상속됨을 말함. 감 (感)은 마음의 병이고, 업 (業)은 몸의 악이며, 고 (苦)는 생사의 과보 (果報)다. 마음의 병이 연 (緣)이 되어 몸으로 악을 짓고, 이 몸의 악이 인 (因)이 되어 생사의 과보 (果報)를 받게 됨으로, 이것을 가리켜 업감연기( 業感緣起)라 말함. 십이연기 (十二緣起) 참조.
다시 말해 우리들은 각기 뜻을 정하고 그 결정을 행동과 말로 나타내게 됨에 따라 업력 (業力)이 되고, 이들 업력은 없어지지 않고 아뢰야식에 함장 (含藏)되었다가 유사한 인연을 다시 만날 때 반드시 그 결과를 불러온다고 함. 아뢰야식연기 참조

Interdependent arising of karmic actions--verbal, mental, and physical: Abhidharma-kosa argues that every phenomenon, internal and external, arises from karmic actions, and these karmic actions invite, or result in inevitable retributions.
In other words, delusion is the sickness of the mind; and karma is the evil of the body; and suffering, the result of birth and death. Thus the three modes of life of cause and effect interrelate forevermore. The physical evil actions arise from conditions, and the physical evil actions cause the retribution of birth and death. Cf.
