마른 지혜. 비록 깨쳐서 지혜를 얻었다 하더라도, 선정 (禪定)의 힘이 충실하지 못하면 그것을 마른 지혜라고 함. 다시 말해 마른 지혜는 죽고 나는 이치를 깨달았다 하더라도, 나고 죽음에 있어서 자유자재 하지 못하다는 것

A dry wisdom: Even if one has attained enlightenment, if it is not reinforced by the power of meditation, it is called a dry wisdom, or an intellectual wisdom, not true transcendental wisdom. Such wisdom cannot stand in the actual confrontation of birth and death, or samsara.
