[灌頂, Gwanjeong]

물을 정수리에 붓는다는 뜻으로, 본래 인도에서 왕이 즉위하거나 태자를 세울 때 바닷물을 정수리에 붓는 의식에서 유래. 그러나 이것이 후에 입문식 (入門式)이나 보살의 지위를 의미하게 됨
A ceremony of sprinkling water on the head of a devotee at an initiation ceremony, or at the rite of recognizing the status of Bodhisattva. However, it was first originated in India at the occasion of the coronation of .the King, or at the announcement of the Crown Prince. In the latter cases, they used sea water instead of fresh water.
