삼법인 (三法印)의 하나로, 만유 (萬有)의 모든 법은 인연으로 생긴 것으로 실다운 자아 (自我)의 실체가 없다는 것. 그러나 이것은 단지 불교적인 교의 (敎義)가 아니라, 우주의 법칙인 동시에 부정할 수 없는 현대과학의 진리이기도 함. 창조설? 글쎄요?

All Dharmas lack self-nature, or inherent existence: In other words, all phenomenal things are in existence only by conditions. Negation or absence of self-entity in all forms or phenomena. There is nothing in the whole universe that has a permanent self-entity or self-nature. It is also the universal and scientific truth. Cf. Dependent arising, emptiness, and quantum theory.
