부처님의 49년간의 설법 중, 세 곳에서 가섭에게 마음, 곧 법 (法)을 전한 일
1) 영산회상 (靈山會上)의 염화미소 (拈花微笑).
2) 다자탑 (多子塔) 앞에서 부처님께서 가섭과 자리를 나눈 일.
3) 쌍림 (雙林)의 관 (棺) 속에서 부처님께서 발을 내밀어 보이신 일.

Mind-to-mind transmission at three places from the Buddha to Mahakasyapa:
1) At Vulture Peak by a smile with a gesture of holding up a flower during the sermon on Vulture Peak.
2) At the Pagoda of Many Children when the Lord shared his seat with him.
3) Finally by putting his foot out of his coffin under the twin sala trees at Kusinagara.
