원만돈족 (圓滿頓足)의 뜻으로 천태종의 용어. 모든 사물을 빠짐없이 원만하게 갖추고 즉시 깨달아 성불한다는 뜻. 천태종에서는 법화경 (法華經)을 원돈교( 圓頓敎), 천태종을 원돈종 (圓頓宗), 그리고 그 계 (戒)를 원돈계 (圓頓戒)라 말함

The gate or teaching of complete and spontaneous enlightenment: The doctrine of the Tiantai Sect, the chief tenet of which is the complete innate Buddha-nature of all beings and spontaneous enlightenment. The Tientai Sect also classifies the Lotus Sutra as the doctrine of complete and sudden enlightenment, the Tientai Sect as the complete and Spontaneous Sect, and its precepts as the precepts of complete and spontaneous precepts.
