이는 선정후혜 (先定後慧), 곧 먼저 선정 (禪定)을 닦은 다음 단박에 깨치는 돈오선법 (頓悟禪法)을 말함. 간화선과의 차이는 우선 이는 화두를 들지 않으며, 또 정혜쌍수 (定慧雙修)라는데 그 차이가 있다
