범어 (梵語) sahaloka-dhatu의 번역. 사바 (裟婆), 사하 (索訶)라 번역. 현재 우리들이 살고 있는 세계. 이 세계의 중생들이 열 가지 악을 참고 견디며, 또한 이 국토에서 벗어나려는 뜻이 없으므로 자연히 중생들 사이에서 인내하지 않고는 살아갈 수 없다는 뜻으로 하는 말. 또는 보살이 중생을 제도하기 위하여 수고를 견디어 받는다는 뜻으로 감인세계 (堪忍世界)라 말함

Sahaloka-dhatu: The world of tolerance. The world of sentient beings which is full of evil and sufferings, which must be endured unless one escapes it through cultivation of the mind. Another meaning of the term is the world of tolerance in which the Bodhisattva must abide and endure all the sufferings in order to save sentient beings from their sufferings.
