번뇌가 곧 깨침이라고 한다. 즉 번뇌란 무명으로 인해 마음이 지어낸 미망 (迷妄)이기 때문이다. 진정 깨치고 보면 이들은 모두 이름일 뿐 실체가 없는 것. 그런가 하면 마치 수렁에서 연꽃이 피어나듯 번뇌 속에 정진하는 구도심 (求道心)이 지혜의 진실 된 본체이기 때문에 번뇌가 곧 보리 (菩提)라고도 말함. 문제는 분별심과 집착. 지혜라는 뜻의 보리 (菩提)는 각지 (覺智) 또는 도 (道)와 같은 뜻)

The defilement itself is bodhi or enlightenment: In the ultimate sense of emptiness, they are non-dual in nature. They are just names with no substance. As the lotus flowers grow in the swamp, metaphorically defilement could be the ground of wisdom and enlightenment. The best policy is to leave all the discriminations and attachments behind.
"Where there is the limit of samsara, / There is the limit of Nirvana;
Not the slightest thing whatsoever is between them."
