아상
Asang]
-
Atta or atman: Egoism, the concept of the ego as real, an ego-entity, or ego-personality, one of the four marks or ego. A false view of "I" or self. It is actually a collection of the five skandhas or aggregates, which has no self-entity or substantiality. It is also the principal source of all passion and sufferings.
Let's see what the Buddha said about ego-entity: "Is this body mine? Is this feeling mine? Is this thinking mine? Is this longing mine? Is this consciousness mine? If this thinking is mine, what about the passing thought?" This is the reason why we cannot say that our fleeing thought is ours. So is our body. Neither is our feeling, nor our longing, nor our consciousness. So is everything else in the whole world. This is what we call, non-substantiality of all phenomena. Shall we not then keep this truth in our mind before anything else?
