금강계 (金剛界)와 함께 밀교의 이대 (二大) 교의 (敎義)로, 어머니의 태안에는 오장육부 (五臟六腑) 등 몸의 모든 중요한 기관이 있듯이, 일체 중생에게는 본래 평등하게 대일여래 (大日如來)의 이성 (理性)을 갖추고 있음을 비유한 것

The realm of garbhadhatu or womb, or the storehouse of the womb world: Along with the realm of diamond, one of the two major doctrines of Esoteric Buddhism. It is a metaphorical way of expressing that just as there are all kinds of vital organs in the womb of the mother, likewise we are all equiped with all the essential natures of the Great Buddha Vairochana.
