칠식 (七識)이 선악의 업인 (業因)을 지어 팔식 (八識)을 훈습하여 깊이 저장했다가 반듯이 보응 (報應)을 받기 때문에 이를 훈습종자라 말함

The imprinted seed: All the karmic acts, good and evil, are stored or imprinted in the eighth consciousness until they are aroused by similar karmic actions, which will in turn bring due rewards or retributions.
