중생이 괴로움을 받고 있을 때 관음보살의 이름을 일심으로 부르면 그 음성을 관음보살이 관하시어 모두를 고난과 액난의 두려움에서 해탈케 해준다는 것을 믿는 신앙

Belief in the Bodhisattva of Avalokitesvara, or the Bodhisattva of Great Compassion: It is the belief that if you recite the name of this Bodhisattva in great earnest, your invocation will be observed by the Bodhisattva and will be delivered from not only great afflictions but also from all kinds of calamities.
